Newsletter

Hi all,  I wanted to update everyone on some developments with The Armoury, what’s new, upcoming and what you or your friends & family could be missing out on within our little community! 😉

A SPRING CLEAN

We are constantly adapting and sprucing up our space to make it work and look cool for all members. It’s important to us that we build a community rather than just a gym.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Charlie Radley for our custom build shelving unit and Dave Crowther for all the (and continued 😉) plumbing support.

You will find their cards/details on our new notice board or at reception.

If you need any carpentry services. Drop Charlie a line

If you need any plumbing or heating services. Drop Dave a line

If any of you have any improvement ideas, let us know!

NEW TO THE ARMOURY

NEW BOOKING SYSTEM

That’s right we have adding a booking system
This change is mainly due to insurance and H&S reasons. However, this will also help us track training and trends etc that can lead to awards and potential class changes.
All students (Both adults and kids) will have to book in for classes.
You can book in and cancel anytime from 14 days in advance up until 2 hours before a class.
Spaces will be limited. Once a session is fully booked, you will unfortunately have to book into a session later in the week.
If you are unable to make a session that you have booked into, please make sure you cancel your booking
Be quick, not disappointed 😉.
You will receive booking and cancelation confirmation emails. These may find their way into your spam/junk folder.
You can amend/cancel your booking via the confirmation email.
I personally, have created the system, so no doubt there will be some growing pains 😬. Any issues or queries, please contact me directly.

If a session that only has 1 or less individuals booked into it there will be a risk of the session being cancelled.

Also, if you show up without booking into a class in advance, there is a risk that you or your child won’t be able to join the session.

KEEPING UP TO DATE

We use WhatsApp groups relevant to the students age to keep in touch. So, make sure you are part of the relevant group. Don’t worry, you won’t be spammed. If you haven’t been added or want to add someone to the group (Mum/Dad/Guardian) then please get in touch with Andy.

MORE MINI’S

As the mini’s class is nice and busy, we will be adding an additional class mid week. Keep an eye out for further developments as we will reach out for feedback and preferences.

TEENS CLASSES

We recently added the Teens classes to the timetable.

Classes have been well received and these young adults are absorbing the techniques like sponges. I have no doubt that we will mould them into confident individuals and potentially great competitors. All we need is some more training partners. If you know of any teens that would benefit from training with us, get them in touch for a free trial.

COMPETITION NEWS & TARGETS

Over the past couple of months we had a number of the team compete.  Massive respect to all of those that stepped onto the mats, it’s an achievement in itself and can be a massive learning curve, even experiencing your first adrenaline dump can have quite the impact.

We even managed to get a few of you on the podium:

Sussex Open – 4 x Silver,

Brighton Open – 2 x Silver & 1 x Bronze.

One thing that made me feel particularly fulfilled, was having members of the team there to support those competing. It’s this team ethos and sense of community that most clubs strive for and shows we are bulding something great.

We will start to ramp up training in the coming weeks ahead of our next targeted competition, which is The Surrey Open on 20/07/25.

Keep posted for some related articles that I have been working on that will be available for you all read soon….

If you are considering entering or are interested in testing yourself then let me know. We will be holding at least one mock comp night ahead of this competition for those who are competing or even if you would like to get an idea.

COMING SOON….

We are currently developing a new members page where you will be able to access technique videos and written articles that might help you with your training and development.

PRIVATE 1-2-1’s

Ahead of our recent comps a few members took advantage of booking in privates. These helped identify and build game plans based on the individuals. From my perspective, I have seen a significant change in those individuals and their approach to the game.

If something isn’t clicking and need that extra help with your game, or wanted to work on/identify a game plan. Then time to get booking in those 1-2-1’s.

INTRO TO BJJ

BJJ as a sport is a fun sport but sometimes it is just that! A Sport. Not all technique’s we do are applicable for self defence as the rules set out as BJJ being a competitive sport are not adhered to in a real life scenario. This class addresses this and looks at how to or not utilise BJJ as an effective form of self defence. If a motivation for training is for self defence, this class is a must!

PILATES & MOBILITY CLASSES

I for one, have been feeling significant improvements since joining these sessions, countering my poor posture and years of training BJJ. The class times are design to cater to those who are not necessarily working the standard 9-5 or retired. This is to utilise the mat space throughout the day.

If you have a loved one with back pain, struggling with mobility and/or struck trying to get out of a chair then send them our way!

NEW MERCH!

CHECK OUT OUR STORE NOW!

Keep posted on our socials for a new drops!

We are also looking to do a run of custom Gi’s and rash-guards that will be a pre order deal.

Designs are to follow.

We are open to any creative ideas for designs 😉.
