Welcome to this instalment of The Armoury Reload. Let’s review and look at whats coming up.
Thanks for all your support thus far.
Please follow our socials, like and share as much as you can. We would love for you all to spread the word to your friends and family and help us keep growing!
Price Review
Ok , so let’s get the negative stuff out of the way. I have been reviewing the prices of our memberships and compared to all the competition we are significantly cheaper, especially considering the timetable we offer. With the increase in running costs, we’re in a position where we need to increase our prices across the board.
Please see the new prices below.
Mini’s £40 per month – Juniors £60 per month – Teens £60 per month – Adults £95 per month
This increase will be implemented from January 2026. If you have any issues with this or want to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Again, thank you all for your support.
Competition News
BJJ All Stars South
Last weekend we attended the BJJ All Stars South in Crystal Palace with 9 competitors.
We made a phenomenal showing, achieving a whopping 8 Golds and 4 Silver medals. Earning 6th place for all clubs and playing our part to get Checkmat as the comps top team.
This is an awesome achievement considering there were 1122 competitors in total.
This was the first time that we had any of our Teens compete also, which has given me a lot to work on as a coach.
It was amazing to see everyones progress, implimenting a lot of the techniques and stratagy we have been working in class and private sessions.
Massive thanks to the team for their efforts and supporting the club.
A special thanks to Gate for assisting with coaching duties 👊
Student Focus –
(Double) Dave Crowther
Over the past few months Dave suffered some potentially serious injuries. Injuries that would put a lot of people off getting back on the mat. However, Dave was not. Infact he worked his arse off, determined to get back to where he left off.
Not only did he achieve this, he recently won DOUBLE GOLD at comp.
Just so this story doesn’t put you off. Dave’s significant injuries for the most part were NOT BJJ related.
Awesome job Dave!
1 Year Celebrations and Grading
After our 1st year, our club is growing and going from strenght to strenght. What better way to celebrate than a Grading.
We handed out many well deserved stripes and even 2 Belts this time.
It’s important that you or your child understands that these stripes are personal to the individual and we award these for a variety of reasons and that the learning curve in BJJ is far from being linear. Not the only, but a great way to test your ability is by competing. If you or child is interested in this, then please let me know.
Club Gi’s, Rashguards and Shorts
We are in the last steps of finalising the new kit.
Apologies for the delay. It turns out that Andy’s Pakistani isn’t as good as he thought 🤦♂️. We want our products to be right!
We will be reaching out for pre-orders imminently.
Juniors Open Mat – Memento Mori – Reigate
9am Saturday 13th December at Memento Mori BJJ in Reigate, we are holding a Juniors Open mat. This will give the opportunity for the juniors to roll and test their skills against the students in Reigate and other friendly gyms. It will be a fun and chilled environment, not like a competition environment. Let me know if anyone is interested or would like to know more.
Community running/walking club
Just a reminder that outside The Armoury on Tuesdays at 6pm, some of the fitness crew, who work with Adam have organised a weekly run/walk. Word on the street is that there’s a Whatsapp group for those who take part.
Get in touch if want to get involved. Close friends and family welcome. This week they did a comfortable 4.5k and I’ve been promised photo evidence for the next Reload edition.
Just to clarify, this activity is NOT being organised and/or supervised by Adam and The Armoury. Just a nice community led activity suitable for all levels and abilities.
Members Page
Don’t forget to keep checking our Members Page for all the latest Content and technique instructionals.
With it being Mens Mental Health Month, regardless of gender it’s important to remember why we train and what we get out of it. For many including myself, this sport is a form of therapy. I personally know some of your struggles, please remember that we are part of a supportive community that can lean on each other and learn from each other. 👊
Until our next Reload… Keep training!
